5 reasons why you need to visit CALAGUAS ISLAND!
Why go to Calaguas Island?
1. Crystal clear water
First thing that will catch your attention in this place is its crystal clear water. And when I say crystal clear, I really MEAN it. Our Japanese friend even compared its water to that of El Nido Palawan’s own. Little fishes could also be seen near the shore, a proof on how clean the water is. It was simply beautiful.
She was beautiful... period. |
2. Fine white sand
I could compare the sand here to powdered milk. It’s very fine, purely white and smooth to touch. Other than Boracay's sand, it is indeed the best I have ever walked on so far… no pebbles at all.
NOTE: The only reason why Boracay's sand has won an inch over Calaguas' came down to its temperature. Boracay's own has the ability to remain cool to walked on even when the sun's heat is too much for it to take while the latter adapts on the weather... when its hot outside, which mostly is, make sure to bring your slippers or else you'll burn your soles.

See how clean the sand is? No weed. No stones. Just... sand. :) |
3. Majestic sunrise
With less than 30-minute trek, you will be able to reach the island's highest spot. There you will be able to see the glorious rays of sun while its breaking the darkness that engulfs the whole island and later on appreciate the whole view of the place.
there were a lot of tourists that weekend... see all those tents and boats? |
The magical feel you get every sunrise is doubled when you get to see it on the summit. |
This ain't sunrise... but sunset was as beautiful as the latter right? |
4. Bed of stars
Who never dreamed of having to sleep under the stars at least once in their life? The experience was breath taking. If you are lucky enough you would also be able to see a part of the Milky Way and perhaps a shooting star too. I personally wasn’t able to experience it but my friends did. I was so mesmerized by the visions of the stars that sleeping inside the tent for the first time was no trouble. The stars comforted me all through the night.
5. Thankful heart
Last but not the least, what I learned most during my stay there was to have a thankful heart. Enough water to take a bath every day, a comfortable bed to sleep, electricity to watch TV, cellular signal to get in touch with family, roof above my head… the list goes on and on.
I learned that if we only appreciate what we have, being happy and contented won’t be that hard.
Now are you ready for Calaguas?
